Volunteer Matter of Balance Coaches Needed in the Central U.P.
April 1 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
UPCAP is looking for volunteers to coach Matter of Balance classes in their community. A Matter of Balance is an award winning program designed to teach folks to manage falls and reduce their fear of falling by providing strategies and gentle exercises to help them stay active and independent. Matter of Balance is an 8-session course led by two local volunteer coaches for either 4 or 8 weeks. UPCAP provides all the support, materials and training for volunteer coaches.
Our next scheduled training will be held on April 1 & 2, 2020 in Escanaba. Volunteers must attend both days to obtain certification as a Matter of Balance Coach. Training will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days.
Class size is limited and interested folks must pre-register. All volunteers who attend must consent to a criminal background check. There is NO cost to attend and all materials, snacks and lunch will be provided. Volunteer coaches are expected to lead 2 classes in the following year. Please call Sherry Whitman or Jill VanDrese for more information or to register at 906-786-4701 or Dial 2-1-1.
