6 session group program for people living with diabetes.  Topics include meal planning, label reading, blood sugar monitoring, exercise and much more.  Caregivers are also welcome to attend.  Group meets weekly on Wednesdays from September 5th through October 10th @ the Victory Lutheran Church in Sawyer/Gwinn. PATH to Pain Management Workshop – Negaunee

6 session group program for people living with health conditions that cause chronic pain such as Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Back problems, etc.  Topics include ways to manage pain and live a healthier and more productive life.  Caregivers are also welcome to atend. Group meets weekly on Wednesdays from September 5th through October 10th @ the Negaunee Senior Center. There is NO cost to attend, however pre-registration is required.  Call the Senior Center at 906-475-6266 to register or for more information.  A workbook will be available to purchase or loan.

Volunteer Matter of Balance Coaches Needed in the U.P.! – Escanaba

This one-day training is for anyone willing to learn, promote and lead the award-winning Matter of Balance program in their community.  Matter of Balance is a national evidence-based program that helps older adults overcome their fear of falls. Two coaches team-teach to present an 8-session course to help participants become more confident about managing falls and teaches them exercises that help increase their strength and balance. Volunteer coaches need enthusiasim, good communication and interpersonal skills, and be willing to lead a low to moderate level exercise program. UPCAP supports coaches with training, arranging classes, and program costs.
